Jim Tressel resigned from Ohio State in May 2011 amid an NCAA investigation into violations involving players receiving improper benefits from a local tattoo parlor. His resignation followed a series of suspensions and fines related to the scandal, which ultimately tarnished the reputation of the football program.

All true, Ed. That doesn't seem to matter to a large swath of Ohioans, especially in the NIL-portal era.

I may be naive but I am not a fan of OH State anything. I am an Ohio native and a gramma to three amazing grandchildren. I like Vivek in this race. I am curious as to the "hit" that you mentioned.

Thanks for the comment, Jenny. The "hit" is the fact that he now can't overwhelm his opponents as was the case with Dave Yost. Jim Tressel's name ID is very high and Republican Establishment donors will back him. Thus, Vivek's smooth path got much bumpier.

Matt, that may very well be true but I don't think that Vivek will have any trouble quaddrupling the $. He is brilliant and innovative. Tressel isn't IMO. Enjoy the rest of your day Sir.

You are likely right, BUT Vivek only raised roughly $5 million during his presidential run, so unless he gets better at fundraising it will be his own funds again (which doesn't matter -- though some politicos would argue it is a truer indicator of his grassroots support -- i.e., talk is cheap, but money speaks).

I don't know. I see Tressel as a placeholder more than anything, or DeWine's attempt to not give a leg up to any of the perma-officeholders. I can't imagine that Tressel wants to run for governor at this stage of his life, having been comfortably retired. But stranger things have happened.
