No, the loss of those countries doesn’t present a true national security threat to America justifying war. It is time to reset America’s foreign policy to reflect Main Street America’s views.
A magnificent piece. I've been to both Ukraine and Taiwan, and I think both countries are marvelous and I have nothing but good things to say about their people.
But I agree that the blood of Americans is not a worthwhile sacrifice for other peoples' countries. So many hundreds of thousands of decent American men (boys, really) lost their lives horrifically in WWI and Vietnam and Korea, all for causes that did nothing for the core of this country. The modern United States is not half of what America was back then, and I'm not confident that we could even guarantee victory. Either way, we cannot forfeit that many more lives for the lands of others.
