Why Was Kamala Harris Absent from Dover Air Force Base on August 29, 2021?
Based on Harris not attending either the Dover AFB dignified transfer or the Arlington National Cemetery Gold Star families event, who do you think really views the military as “suckers and losers?"
We’ve now collectively spent far too much time talking about Donald Trump accepting the invitation from Gold Star families to join them at Arlington National Cemetery for the three year anniversary of their sons' and daughters' deaths in Afghanistan due to Joe Biden's and Kamala “Last In The Room” Harris’s terrible decisions surrounding the pullout of troops from Afghanistan (but not tens of billions in weapons and bases). The U.S. soldiers known as the Abbey Gate Thirteen died in the bombing attack at Abbey Gate in late August 2021. On August 29, 2021, an Air Force plane arrived at Dover Air Force Base with their caskets to conduct the dignified transfer of their flag-draped caskets for family funerals and burials.
The Bidens attended the ceremony at Dover AFB where Joe famously looked at his watch during the dignified transfer ceremony as if the whole event was a waste of his time. Of note, neither Harris nor her husband, Doug “Fight for Abortion Rights So My Impregnated Nanny With Whom I Had An Affair Can Abort Our Child” Emhoff, attended the ceremony, which no one took note of at the time.
Three years later, their absence SHOULD matter especially after Harris attacked Trump for attending the Arlington National Cemetery event with the Gold Star families. I won’t waste your time talking about the appropriateness or not of taking photos or videos at Arlington National Cemetery because EVERY president and candidate who can, does. The Left’s focus on Trump doing it is a faux controversy, as so many of their attacks on Trump are. I will, however, ask the question: where was Harris on August 29, 2021? It is a question the media should be asking, but won’t because the answer paints Harris in a very negative light when it comes to her own accountability and views on the military.
Conveniently, the Los Angeles Times published a piece on Harris back in October 2022 where it provided day-to-day detail of her official schedule since becoming Vice President on January 20, 2021. Here is what the Los Angeles Times posted for Saturday, August 28, 2021, which was the day before the Dover AFB dignified transfer:
11:00 AM: The President and the Vice President will meet with their national security team to receive intelligence, security, and diplomatic updates on the evolving situation in Afghanistan. This meeting in the Situation Room will be closed.
Here is what the Los Angeles Times posted for Monday, August 30, 2021, which was the day after the Dover AFB dignified transfer:
10:00 AM: The President and the Vice President will meet with their national security team to receive intelligence, security, and diplomatic updates on the evolving situation in Afghanistan. This meeting in the Situation Room will be closed.
There is no posting for Sunday, August 29, 2021, but a second posting on August 28, 2021, read:
On Sunday, the Vice President will be in Washington, DC. The Vice President has no public events scheduled.
Thus, we know Harris was in Washington, D.C., on the 29th when the dignified transfer ceremony happened at Dover AFB. If Harris is so patriotic and concerned about the treatment of military men and women, why couldn’t she be bothered to join the Bidens at Dover AFB for the dignified transfer? Given she has unequivocally stated that she was the last person in the Situation Room with Biden when he made the decisions with her full support he made as Commander-in-Chief on the Afghanistan withdrawal, shouldn’t she at least have followed through on the outcome of those decisions by honoring the Abbey Gate Thirteen and their families when their caskets arrived back in America? Given the frequency with which she cites the refuted Trump called military men buried at Normandy “suckers and losers” faux story, you’d think she would want to demonstrably show how highly she regards the men and women who serve and die for America.
You might be surprised that she opted to stay at home at the Naval Observatory and stream the latest television show with Emhoff, but I am not. When, like Trump, she was invited by the Gold Star families to join them at Arlington National Cemetery last week, neither she nor Biden could even muster a lame response to the invitation by politely declining. She ignored the Gold Star Families entirely, which is why they’ve come out to defend Trump being there for them. Say what you will about Trump, but he showed up, honored the dead soldiers, and comforted the Gold Star families still reeling from their losses, which isn’t the first time he has comforted them. These two bookend omissions by Harris—not attending the Dover AFB dignified transfer and not attending the Arlington National Cemetery Gold Star families event—speak volumes about her views on the military and her worthiness to be Commander-in-Chief. Based on these omissions, who do you think really views the military as “suckers and losers?"
P.S. For those readers who question why I spend so much time on the need for Ohio to build a world-class airport that allows business and pleasure travelers to get to and from Ohio to their destinations domestically and internationally in one flight, see the article above on how Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport is seen as a huge asset for keeping and attracting businesses and wealthy Americans. Also see the article below on why Texas’s status as a no income state draws Americans from states with state income taxes, like Ohio. Sadly, Mike DeWine, Jon Husted, and Ohio’s legislative leaders show no interest in eliminating Ohio’s income tax or building a world class airport, so Ohio will continue to lose citizens and their businesses to Texas (and other pro-prosperity states).
