Thoughts on Donald Trump’s Inauguration and Joe Biden’s Last Minute Shameful Unconstitutional Pardons
By issuing pardons to his entire family, Biden cemented for history that the Biden family was above the law, as serious constitutional issues surround actions by Milley and Fauci that require action.
The following are my initial thoughts on the events of the last four hours.
Donald Trump’s Inauguration
It is hard to believe this day came given the obstacles Trump faced, including several assassination attempts. For the most part, I thought Trump’s speech was a good one. I’m not sure some of the red meat elements fit in an inauguration speech. For example, though very important to fix, mentioning the two genders issue and ending wokism seem unworthy of the historical nature of an inauguration speech. Fifty years from now, readers likely will find their inclusion odd. Nonetheless, the speech launched what I hope will be a wave of action for the next four years to do exactly what Trump said he would do in it. I love the idea of signing executive orders in front of 20,000 supporters. Brilliant move!!!
With Trump’s return, I look forward to seeing the nonviolent, non-destructive 1/6ers pardoned. None of those people should have faced felony chargers, been bankrupted with legal fees, or gone to jail for trespassing. Their prosecution, along with the lawfare against Trump, represented the worst aspect of the weaponization of the justice system. My sincere hope is Trump authorizes the federal government to reimburse those men and women for their legal fees, so they can fully put this ugly chapter behind them. I am also thrilled Trump is revoking the security clearances of the Dirty 51 intelligence hacks who signed the Hunter Biden laptop letter that unfairly interfered with the 2020 election.
For dedicated readers, you may recall the column I wrote on November 19, 2024, titled, "My Unsolicited Advice to Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on DOGE and Its Future (Plus, Ohio Senate Vacancy Poll Results),” in which I issued five recommendations to Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. The fifth and final recommendation was to "build a team of the best lawyers in America who have successfully battled the Leviathan.” I wrote:
You must assume every single action you take will be litigated to the fullest extent by government unions, George Soros pawns, left-wing governors and attorneys general, and private sector entities who live off the government teat you are trying to plug. I detest lawyers as much as the next guy, but you will need them to defend your work. There are countless talented men and women across America who would love to help you, but they won’t and can’t do it for free, so make sure to put aside some legal defense funds. You’ll need it.
Not surprisingly, within ten minutes of Trump being sworn in, Public Citizen, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), and the State Democracy Defenders Fund began their lawfare attack on DOGE and its actions. The legal attacks will keep coming over every move DOGE makes (and every breathe it takes:-) I hope Musk and Ramaswamy heeded my November advice (though word is Ramaswamy is leaving DOGE already).
I had one quibble with the inauguration. Maybe it is just me, but I found it a tad bit unseemly that the tech leaders from Apple (Tim Cook), Microsoft (Satya Nadella), Amazon (Jeff Bezos), and Facebook (Mark Zuckerberg) not only attended the indoor inauguration ceremony, but received VIP seating with J.D. Vance’s and Trump’s family, as well as nominated Cabinet members. These men did everything they could in 2020 and through the 2024 November election to prevent Trump from winning, which worked in 2020. They may have issued their maxima mea culpas, but those words shouldn’t have entitled them to coveted spots behind Trump.
Joe Biden’s Last Minute Shameful and Unconstitutional Pardons
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Biden would pardon his family members at the last possible moment. That doesn’t make his action any less shameful. As one commentator noted, by issuing pardons to his entire family, especially Hunter and James, Biden cemented for history that the Biden family was above the law. Any reasonable person looking at the evidence compiled over the last five years by intrepid journalists like Miranda Devine and dogged congressional investigators like James Comer knows Biden and his family broke the law in their get rich scheme in which they used Biden’s position as Vice President to fleece foreign governments and companies. They didn’t just give the appearance of access to fleece those entities; rather, in the case of the Ukrainian investigation of the owner of Burisma, Biden issued a quid pro quo demand to fire the prosecutor in exchange for foreign aid.
I hope Comer et al. don’t stop pursuing the Biden Family, but drag them all in for interviews, depositions, and hearings to get the truth. With pardons issued, none of them can plead the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Their pardons also don’t protect them from prosecution if they lie going forward.
In terms of the preemptive pardons, I think both Biden and U.S. Senator Charles Schumer said it best. Here is Biden responding to CNN’s guilty of defamation anchor Jake Tapper question on preemptive pardons.
Biden once again shows with his actions that he is a pathological liar whose tenure in office will be deemed as one of the worst, if not the worst, in American history.
