With a supermajority Republican trifecta, it is stunning how little Ohio Republicans get done and how often they lose consequential battles.

As a refugee from Ohio (I grew up in the Toledo area) I saw this coming a mile away. 20 years ago I decided to move either south or west and south won (well, sort of, since Delaware's not exactly Confederate country.) I got tired of being laid off every four years since I work in the building industry.
But while I was in Ohio I was involved in the local GOP and YRs. A lot of Ohio's problems came from a state party which did its level best to anoint candidates, always choosing the most "electable" (read: moderate) candidate. I lived here and was involved during the Voinovich/Taft years, and believe me, being GOP was a hard sell then because why vote for Democrat lite when you could get the real thing?
Sad to see things haven't really changed. I thought you got rid of Mike DeWine when Sherrod Brown beat him, but I guess the state Republican party hasn't had enough of Democrat lite.
I have a second home in Trumbull County. Since mid-July 2017 my property taxes have increased 41.3%. It's highway robbery. In addition, they're showing the house with a fireplace, which it does not have. I called them, they said they would correct it and while I was on the phone the gentlemen said it was corrected. That was two months ago. As of this writing the fireplace is still showing. Government incompetence at your finest. There is no accountability, taxes can be raised without a proper accounting of how that money is spent. Private businesses can't survive like that.
