Over the last twelve days, I posted over on Instagram each of the last twelve days my Christmas wishes. Now, I didn’t go big like asking for “world peace” or “to end hunger;” rather, I’m went with small things that would simply make life better. Here is my list:
Xmas Wish Day 1: My college-aged daughter, Genevieve, would keep her room picked up when home.
Xmas Wish Day 2: If you finish the pot of coffee at Panera, let the staff know so the next person doesn’t get shafted with an empty pot.
Xmas Wish Day 3: Please just drive the posted speed limit. When you decide not to you make that decision for everyone behind you. Fairly selfish thing to do.
Xmas Wish Day 4: Don’t be THAT person who turns when your light is clearly red and my light is clearly green. It is how accidents happen. Your time isn’t more important than mine.
Xmas Wish Day 5: To paraphrase Andy Bernard from “The Office,” I wish I’d known my last chat with my Grandpa Kroger was going to be my last chat him, so I could have stayed longer and recorded it. It’s been over 18 years and I miss him mightily. They don’t make them like him anymore.
Xmas Wish Day 6: When you buy pre-packaged fruits and vegetables at the grocery store, the store should give you credit when you discover bad pieces once you get home. It’s like opening a jar of peanut butter to find three spoonfuls missing. You aren’t getting what you paid for.
Xmas Wish Day 7: People wouldn’t park in two spaces in parking lots because they think they’re that important. Related wish here is when three or more open spaces exist in a parking lot, don’t park next to a car that is already there. That is psychotic behavior 🤷♂️
Xmas Wish Day 8: It would be great if when I said “Where do you want to go to dinner?”, the people in my life wouldn’t say “I don’t care. You pick.” followed by shooting down every suggestion I then make. Always having to pick is burdensome and never getting to eat where I want is soul-crushing :-)
Xmas Wish Day 9: That companies would stop lying to us on their answering services by telling us to “listen carefully as the menu options have recently changed.” The menu options NEVER change. Even better, give me the option to pay more to avoid answer services entirely, so I can directly call a human being and get my issue handled more quickly.
Xmas Wish Day 10: That people would be more conscious of those right behind them and hold the door open when going in and out of public places instead of just charging through obliviously. Bonus: tell those you hold the door for to have a good day or night:-)
Xmas Wish Day 11: Have spatial awareness in public places like airports, fairs, and other foot-traffic places and don’t be those people who stand chit-chatting in the middle of the lane forcing everyone else to the outsides and please don’t just stop without noting who is behind you. Bonus: throw away the four wheel bags that people walk beside themselves taking up twice the space—it is irritating 🤷♂️
Xmas Day 12: My last wish: that people in public places, especially airports, would not use their speakerphones to talk to people, as none of us want to hear their conversations. Bonus: make your kids use headphones so we don’t have to hear their videos.
Have a great day with family and friends!!
