Kamala Harris Is Not a Bipartisan “Blank Slate” — Plus, the Abortion Issue Consumes Far Too Much of Our Bandwidth
It would be mildly ironic if women voters were responsible for putting into the White House one of the most unqualified and unimpressive hacks on the Left over an issue that affects so few Americans.
“I fear the Greeks even when bearing gifts,” said Lacoon in reference to the Trojan Horse given to Troy by the Greeks during the Trojan War. The wooden horse was secretly filled with soldiers who then came out at nightfall to slaughter the unsuspecting citizens of Troy. I am reminded of this famous quote as we sprint towards Tuesday’s election. Ever since Kamala Harris replaced Joe Biden on the Democrat ticket, we have been told to believe that she is a “blank slate” who seeks simply to represent all Americans…I fear the Greeks even when bearing gifts. The media and her allies tell us to ignore what she has said or done in the past. We can’t really focus on what she wants to do now because she really hasn’t told us…I fear the Greeks even when bearing gifts. They instruct us that she won’t be an extension of the Biden-Harris policies of the last four years. Yet, Harris and her inept running mate, Tim Walz, are stunningly fuzzy about what they would do differently…I fear the Greeks even when bearing gifts.
Those who know me well know that I am a very hardcore “actions speak louder than words” guy. Through the peaks and valleys of my fifty-three-years on Earth, this is one of the greatest lessons I have learned: It is among the easiest things in our world to say X. It is far harder to do X. Especially when doing X may not benefit the doer. When it comes to Harris, we have three crystal clear examples of her doing and one ever-so-vague example of her saying.
On the doing side, first we have Harris’ U.S. Senate career from 2017 to 2021 in which she was rated as one of the most liberal progressive Senators in the entire chamber—more so than even socialist Bernie Sanders. Not only was she an extreme liberal progressive vote, she was among the LEAST collegial Senators and never wasted an opportunity to lie about and denigrate her opponents (see Brett Kavanaugh). Next, we have her 2019-2020 presidential run in which there was not a left-wing idea she didn’t adopt, including defunding the police, federal funding for illegal immigrants to get transgender surgeries, open borders, Medicare for all, and full support of every element of the Green New Deal. Lastly, we have her time in the Biden-Harris Administration from 2021 to now in which they opened the border with disastrous outcomes, cratered the economy with massive spending and inflation and ever-decreasing job growth, moved forward on key provisions of the Green New Deal like banning gas engines and ending our energy independence, and showing so much weakness that the world went from peaceful to war ravaged. Harris as Vice President was often THE tie-breaking vote on the Left’s progressive wish list legislation.
Against all of those years of doing, we have three measly months of her saying very little, including explaining why she didn’t do whatever it is she plans to do given she has had the reins of power over the last four years with two of those years supported by a Democrat Congress...I fear the Greeks even when bearing gifts.
Look, friend, you can dislike Donald Trump. You can hate his personality or his lifestyle. You can deplore what he says. But—and this is an enormous BUT—you cannot ignore that during his time as president, the economy grew powerfully by providing opportunities to Americans of every age, gender, race, and disability; he shutdown the border to a trickle thereby making America safer for you and your family; made America energy independent; and stabilized the world by keeping Vladimir Putin in check, the Mullahs of Iran in a box, and China on its heels. You don’t have to trust him to do those things because he ALREADY DID THOSE THINGS. And, he did all those things with one arm tied behind his back due to the constant assault from the Left, including Harris, on the Russia collusion hoax, the Alfa Bank hoax, two unnecessary impeachments, and lie-after-lie by the media about Charlottesville, Paris, and more.
Now, not to upset any of you, but I do want to say a word on the abortion issue. I don’t care if you believe life begins at conception so it is murder to terminate that pregnancy OR if you believe that life begins when there is a heartbeat and brainwave (as death is the absence of those two things) as I do, so tough choices need to be made thereafter to balance the rights of the babies to live with the ability of women to terminate their pregnancies OR if you believe women ALWAYS should be able to terminate their pregnancies for whatever reasons no matter what is growing inside their bodies. I believe the abortion issue, while important as a moral barometer of America, absorbs far too much of our national discussion because the Left uses it to drive support from women.
Here are some facts to consider. Since 2010, on an annual basis, there have been roughly 1,000,000 or fewer abortions per year. There are 169 million women in America, so 0.6% of women have an abortion (that is less than one percent). To repeat, about half a percent of women in America have an abortion in any year. The other 99.4% of women do not. You wouldn’t know that from the space the issue takes in our debate. Since 2010, for the sake of simplicity, there have been 13,000,000 abortions. Assuming the same 0.6% of women aren’t repeating the procedure, that would mean approximately 7.8% of women have had abortions, with 92.2% of women not having abortions. For 68 million women who are age 45 or older, abortion restrictions likely won’t impact them except theoretically (i.e., if they have a daughter who happens to be among the 0.6% who gets pregnant and wants to abort her baby).
Of the 1,000,000 abortions in America per year, 93% (930,000) occur before week thirteen (i.e., the 1st trimester). Another 6% (60,000 or 0.04% of women) have abortions between week 14 and week 20, which mostly aligns with the law under Roe v Wade and Europe. The final 1% (10,000 or 0.006% of women) of abortions happen after the twentieth week. Like many of you, I am shocked that Democrats simply won’t clearly and unequivocally say that, except for rape, incest, and the actual health of the mother, we shouldn’t allow abortions beyond viability, but they won’t. They fall back on the “between the woman and her doctor” charade to hide their support of abortion on demand throughout the pregnancy.
I don’t give you these figures to dismiss the abortion issue; rather, I merely want to put it in the context of reality to appeal to reason and common sense. For EVERY women (as in all 169 million), the impacts of an open border, soft-on-crime policies, a stagnant economy, runaway inflation, failing public schools, and global instability will have far greater impacts on them and their families than abortion restrictions that in virtually every state today still permit approximately 99% of abortions. That won’t change under Trump, J.D. Vance, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, or any other Republican capable of winning the White House, especially in an era in which Congress is divided so narrowly, which it will be for the next few decades. Any woman not of the hardcore Left or who doesn’t suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome who believes otherwise and votes on that issue alone is, well, gullible and deeply uninformed. Sorry, but that is true given the irrefutable data above.
I guess it would be mildly ironic if women voters were responsible for putting into the White House one of the most unqualified and unimpressive individuals on the Left over an issue that affects so few Americans. And, please, for those tempted to lecture me because I am a man, I am also a dad of two daughters who wants them to have the fullest compilation of rights as possible. Just like women don’t want men to mansplain, I don’t need anyone to womansplain to me about the freedom to choose balanced by the right to live. It is basic ethics and morals no matter how much the Left and pro-choice advocates want to ignore the second side of that pendulum where a baby’s life swings in the balance.
P.S. In the “a picture is worth 1,000 words” category, the image below should put to rest any inclination you might have to support Harris. During Trump’s term, only fourteen known or suspected terrorist encounters occurred at the border. Fourteen. Over the less than four years of the Biden-Harris Administration, that figure exploded to 380 known or suspected terrorist encounters, which is a 2,714% increase. 2-7-1-4-% INCREASE. The math on this one is very very easy: Trump = Safe and secure. Harris ≠ Safe and secure. With al Qaeda regrouping in Afghanistan, ISIS gathering strength in Iraq, and Iran’s various proxy groups looking to get even for allowing Israel to wage war against them, the last thing America needs is a Commander-in-Chief who is viewed as weak and unserious when it comes to our security. Don’t kid yourself that only 380 bad men tried to get across the border. For every one caught, several others got through undetected. Those bad men are now roaming the streets of America looking for ways to spectacularly kill as many Americans as possible. Who do you want sitting in the White House deciding how to stop them?
