What Is the Left Doing to Their Kids’ Mental Health and Outlook on Life?

Before I get to the subject of today’s column, I did want to briefly note that, contrary to the claims of others out there that they first brought to light the Somali fraud and grifting of Medicaid in Ohio, I was the first person to note the likelihood of Somali fraud/grift in Ohio and called on the media to investigate it on November 24, 2025. If someone can show date-stamped evidence that they acted before that day, then fine. Until then, as always, I was the first one to the scene. Moreover, we have been the lone voice at Opportunity Ohio pointing out the massive increases in Medicaid spending in Ohio that is now swallowing over half of the state budget. We tracked the rise in enrollment and costs going back to 2018 when it was already eating up 45% of the state budget. I also called out J.D. Vance, which he ignored until Trump appointed him the Fraud Czar, and Vivek Ramaswamy for his silence as of December 29, 2025, which he responded to. I implored the Right to “Use the Somali Entitlement Fraud Scandal to Push for Decentralization.” Finally, back in March, I pleaded with Vance to take his fraud work to Red states like Ohio, too, knowing full well what was happening here with the approval or acquiescence of Governors John Kasich and Mike DeWine and the Ohio General Assembly. I’m thrilled that is finally happening, but Vance et al. should be ashamed that it took a conservative investigative reporter to uncover the obvious and make Ohio policymakers’s decade-long dereliction of duty a national issue.

Americans on the Left see a very scary America/world, which isn’t necessarily tied to reality. As a result, it isn’t shocking to see mental health issues at higher rates among men and women on the Left, especially since 2016 and Donald Trump’s rise to power. Here are just a few of the views they hold:

• Human-caused global warming is going to decimate the Earth, leaving everyone and everything far worse off than they are today;

• Trump is a modern day Adolph Hitler seeking to turn the presidency into a dictatorship and destroy our Democracy;

• Trump hates gay, lesbian, and transgender people who he wants to round up and stick in concentration camps or kill;

• Trump hates immigrants who he wants to round up, deport, or kill;

• Trump is a warmonger who will start World War III (3 if Ilhan Omar is reading this) resulting in nuclear war;

• Trump wants women to be little more than handmaid tale-type birthing vehicles with few actual rights;

• Trump wants corporations to be able to pollute as much as they want in any location they deem convenient;

• Trump hates all minorities so wants to disenfranchise them as much as he can; and

• School shootings are rampant putting kids everywhere at risk.

You can add to this current list the massive fear these parents injected into their kids during the pandemic about wearing masks, getting vaccinated, and social distancing. Literally none of the above things are true, but, if you talk or listen to those on the Left, they believe fervently in all or most of these statements, which is why many approve of violence against the Right and assassination attempts against Trump. If I thought those things were true, I, too, would be full of fear, anxiety, confusion (especially gender confusion), and depression. Thus, it isn’t surprising that men and women on the Left have mental health issues far more than their peers on the Right. In some age groups (18-29-year-olds), there is a nearly thirty-point difference in mental health issue among women on the Left and Right. There is a ten-point or more gap between women on the Left and women on the Right among all women ages 18-49-years-old, with women 50+ in high single digits. More than half of women on the Left ages 18-29-years-old have mental health issues. Perhaps this pathology is why so many women remain single or find dating so hard. Even men on the Left have higher mental health issues ranging from 22-points higher to 10-points higher.

Again, if you believe the above statements, you’d be mental, too.

As I discuss in the video below, the even bigger issue is that these Left parents are inculcating their minor kids with these beliefs, thereby causing serious fear, anxiety, confusion, and depression in America’s K-12 population. Spend any time around kids in liberal cities like Upper Arlington and Bexley and you will pick up on these symptoms. They loathe Trump and his MAGA supporters based entirely on what they are taught by their parents and left-wing teachers. The proliferation of “Social Emotional Learning” (SEL) periods and counselors in schools are testaments to this growing mental health crisis among America’s youth. The number of K-12 kids who routinely take “mental health days” has skyrocketed. If you are looking for toughness and resiliency, you won’t find in Left cities and enclaves. You’ll find fear, anxiety, confusion, and depression.

You won’t see the same pathology in areas dominated by Right parents because they don’t instill such negative beliefs onto their kids; rather, they teach their kids that America has problems, but that it is still the greatest place on Earth with a bright future ahead. These kids roll their eyes at SEL periods and wouldn’t dare ask their parents if they could take a “mental health day” knowing that their parents would laugh them onto the school bus.
