How Do We Hold Judges Accountable for Abusing Their Authorities?

Judges must suffer consequences for getting their rulings so wrong that appellate courts rule against them strongly and/or repeatedly.

This critical question is slightly easier to answer when it comes to state and local judges who are largely subject to periodic elections. That said, incumbency makes it very hard to oust a judge for abusing her authority, as the only one with an axe to grind is the aggrieved legal party. For federal judges with lifetime appointments, accountability is only available via impeachment. It seems to me all judges should be subject to penalties that attach personally if their conduct is found to be an abuse of their authorities. Given the powers they wield when it comes to every aspect of the legal process, judges should have skin in the game in which they put their money where their legal mouths are.

As I discuss in the video below, whether it is Judge James Boasberg who rules against Donald Trump at every turn or it is a domestic relations judge who so badly gets it wrong in a divorce that she is rebuked on appeal, judges must suffer consequences for getting their rulings so wrong that appellate courts rule against them strongly and/or repeatedly. Watch my proposed solutions to rein in judges who get it wrong, so maybe they are more cautious in executing their powers.
