Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump: Two Presidential Candidates, Two Dramatically Different Investigative Approaches

Never forget: unlike Clinton, Trump the alleged despot never destroyed or disappeared evidence; rather, he zealously adhered to rules of the judicial system and won the 2024 election to be vindicated.

As I’ve said for years, the Clintons are the gift that keeps on giving. I’ve made that comment because it has proved to be the case that no matter what the Left accuses the Right of, you can be sure one of the Clintons is guilty of doing it. Adultery? Check. Sexual assault? Check. Lying? Check. Grifting? Check. Cheating to win? Check. Violating the Logan Act? Check. Misusing government resources? Check. Violating campaign laws? Check. Violating other federal laws? Check. Nepotism? Check. I mean, truly, there isn’t an act the Left’s believes the Right has done that one or both of the Clintons didn’t do. That is why the Left hates whataboutism because they know every allegation they make will illicit a “what about the Clintons” retort. It must be maddening for them.

The latest example arises from more previously classified (i.e., buried) documents released by Attorney General Pam Bondi. As it turns out and as we all suspected, the fix was in by Jim Comey when he faux investigated Hillary Clinton for using a private server that comprised America’s national security. Specifically, the formerly classified “Clinton Annex” is an appendix to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Inspector General’s 2018 report that reviewed the quality of the DOJ and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigation of Clinton’s illegal server. The Clinton Annex showed how the Comey-led investigation, which resulted in him bucking staff advice and exonerating Clinton, ignored key evidence during its investigation of Clinton. In response to Bondi’s release of the Clinton Annex, U.S. Senator Charles Grassley stated:

This document shows an extreme lack of effort and due diligence in the FBI’s investigation of former Secretary Clinton’s email usage and mishandling of highly classified information. Under Comey’s leadership, the FBI failed to perform fundamental investigative work and left key pieces of evidence on the cutting room floor. The Comey FBI’s negligent approach and perhaps intentional lack of effort in the Clinton investigation is a stark contrast to its full-throated investigation of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax, which was based on the uncorroborated and now discredited Steele dossier. Comey’s decision-making process smacks of political infection...The intelligence reports alleged that the Obama administration took efforts to scuttle the investigation into Clinton and protect her candidacy.

None of this new information should shock anyone, as it was clear Comey did everything he could to help Clinton. Keep in mind, just days before exonerating Clinton, Bill Clinton just so happened to have a runway run-in with Attorney General Loretta Lynch in Arizona of which there were no witnesses to their discussion.

When it came to destroying and disappearing evidence, Team Clinton was very thorough. As reported:

[The official Report noted that] "(Clinton aide Justin) Cooper did recall two instances where he destroyed Clinton’s old mobile devices by breaking them in half or hitting them with a hammer"…the FBI determined that 13 devices were associated with Clinton’s phone numbers and personal email, eight of which were used when she was secretary of state. When the Justice Department requested that all devices be handed over, Clinton’s attorneys said they were “unable to locate any of these devices.

In terms of the use of BleachBit to erase the emails from history,

[T]he FBI said Mills “shredded” any copies of emails she “deemed not to be work-related” before they were turned over to State in response to requests for information from Judicial Watch, the media, Congress and the FBI. The laptop hard drive was later wiped clean using a computer program called BleachBit.

The FBI said it was “unable to obtain a complete list of keywords or named officials searched,” because Mills asserted that such information was “privileged.” In fact, when agents pressed her, Mills stormed out of the room and ended the interview.

Even nuttier, because of her role as Clinton’s former Chief of Staff and in destroying evidence, Cheryl Mills should have been treated as a suspect-witness in the case, but, not only did the FBI NOT treat her as such, it allowed her to serve as Clinton’s lawyer, which provided her key FBI insights on the case that likely made it HARDER for the FBI to investigate the matter.

Unlike the massive and highly armed FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago in which Melania’s underwear drawer was searched, the FBI didn’t conduct a single raid on Clinton or any of her staff. FBI raids of Trump allies became common place (e.g., elderly Roger Stone and his wife at 5:00AM with CNN magically getting notice of the armed raid), as did over-the-top perp walks (e.g., snatching Peter Navarro at Reagan National Airport and walking him in handcuffs despite his earlier offer to turn himself in should that be necessary). Think about it: not one raid or perp walk occurred during the Clinton investigation—even John Durham opted to allow those indicted to turn themselves in without raids or perp walks (e.g., Igor Danchenko and Michael Sussmann).

Finally, unlike the thumb drives noted in the Clinton Annex, the FBI and DOJ left no stones unturned when it came to Trump and spared no expense tracking down every lead and paying to hide key witnesses from Congress (e.g., Danchenko), as well as flying FBI agents all over Europe to secure fake evidence against Trump and his team. And they did that knowing the Steele Dossier was total horseshit simply because every action they took was leaked to the media to generate another story to hound and to undermine Trump from governing. The difference between the Trump and the Clinton investigations are just too glaring to ignore. As Kerry Picket reported:

According to the inspector general, the thumb drives contained highly sensitive information extracted from U.S. government agencies, including the Department of State, as well as then-President Barack Obama’s emails and, potentially, congressional information.

The thumb drives were never evaluated as part of the Clinton email probe, despite the recommendation of a draft FBI memorandum.

The report also said the drives should have been immediately reviewed for foreign intelligence purposes, but were never evaluated.

However, according to previous news reporting, rank and file FBI agents grew agitated with how Mr. Comey orchestrated the investigation into the Clinton email server. By October 2016, one month before the election, agents were becoming alarmed over Mr. Comey’s recommendation.

“This is a textbook case where a grand jury should have convened but was not. That is appalling,” an FBI special agent who has worked public corruption and criminal cases said of the decision. “We talk about it in the office and don’t know how Comey can keep going.”

The agent was also shocked that the bureau did not bother to search Mrs. Clinton’s house during the investigation.

“We didn’t search their house. We always search the house. The search should not just have been for private electronics, which contained classified material, but even for printouts of such material,” he said.

“There should have been a complete search of their residence,” the agent pointed out. “That the FBI did not seize devices is unbelievable. The FBI even seizes devices that have been set on fire.”

Must be nice to be a Clinton.

Lest you think I’m putting my thumb on the scales, do a thought exercise. In everything written above, switch Clinton for Trump and Trump for Clinton so that Trump destroyed evidence, wasn’t raided, and got off despite the obvious violations of federal law and Clinton endured Trump’s eight-year persecution. You think the Left would be fine with that outcome because “justice is blind”? Puh-lease…

Of note, Barak Obama’s office issued a statement yesterday in which he castigates Trump and Gabbard, but noticeably DOES NOT deny his role in the Russia Collusion hoax. Seems to me that is the first thing you would do—deny you had any involvement in wrongdoing. Yet, Obama didn’t. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone asked Obama a few simply questions:

(1) Why didn’t you instruct the intelligence community and the FBI to investigate the Clinton Campaign upon hearing of its plans to subvert the presidential election with the Russia collusion hoax in mid-July 2016?

(2) Who killed the early December 2016 draft Presidential Daily Brief that stated unequivocally there was no Russian interference in the election, which was replaced by your ordered intelligence report in early January 2017 that came to the opposite conclusion based entirely on the fake Steele Dossier?

(3) Upon learning the Steele Dossier was totally false, why didn’t you speak out against it and the Clinton Campaign's use of a foreign actor to interfere with the U.S. election, which is federal felony?

(4) Speaking of Clinton, why did you order the FBI and DOJ to not fully investigate given the serious national security risk posed by her actions, including foreign governments getting access to your emails? Why no raid to recover devices and documents?

It actually is shocking that Obama has NEVER faced ANY questions about his role in either the Clinton investigation or the Russia Collusion hoax. I mean, shocking in the sense that a truly independent media would have demanded answers from him over the last ten years (hey, subscriber Michael Isikoff, why don’t you ask Obama these questions?)…not shocking that our biased media did not.

At the end of the day, any rational human being who looked at Trump’s life leading up to the 2016 presidential election would have dismissed out-of-hand the notion that he was a possible Russian spy or asset under the control of Vladimir Putin. Unlike Obama and Clinton (and most of their teams and the media) who expressed support for communism and socialism throughout their lives, Trump has always been a Rocky Balboa American patriot. The fact that we are talking about the Russia Collusion hoax ten years later is proof of the sheer power of the Deep State, the biased media, and the power the Left has over Corporate America, higher education, and the federal government.
