A Brief Word on the 9/11 Terrorist Attack, Iryna Zarutska’s Murder, and Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
When we got bin Laden, I cheered and cried tears of joy. The fact that the Left got similar joy by Kirk’s death speaks volumes about the depth of illness and evil in them. Kirk was no bin Laden.
A lot has been written and said in the last twenty-four hours since a deranged and most likely leftist psycho assassinated Charlie Kirk in Utah, so I’m not sure if what I have to say is worthwhile or not. You can decide if it is or isn’t. I didn’t know Kirk and had never seen him in person. I watched a few clips of him doing his work on college campuses over the years and saw some of his tweets that had been retweeted by people I follow on X (I didn’t follow him). Based on what many people who I do know and respect say about him, I wish I would have gotten a chance to meet him and know him. I suspect my life would have been better by having him as a friend.
Over the course of mere days, Americans first witnessed the brutal murder of Ukrainian immigrant Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte light rail train by fourteen time criminal scumbag Decarlos Brown, Jr., simply for being “the white girl.” Next, we had to see gory videos of Kirk’s assassination that I had hoped I'd never see simply for being a 1st Amendment warrior willing to challenge left-wing orthodoxy on college campuses. Lastly, we recognized the twenty-fourth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack on America in which nearly 3,000 Americans died simply for being Americans. I think Divine Providence brought the three events together this week.
Let me explain why.
Those on the Left won’t like this comparison, but it sadly rings true. I remember vividly seeing the videos from the Muslim streets in Gaza, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and other Muslim countries of people celebrating the 9/11 terrorist attacks. People joyfully taking pleasure in and dancing to the death of 3,000 Americans and the devastating destruction in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It was abhorrent. For me, it also was a defining moment in my understanding of the evil we faced in the West in our “clash of civilizations” and the incompatibility of elements of Islam with western values. Shortly thereafter, I would move my family to Washington, D.C., to help stand up the newly-created U.S. Department of Homeland Security and to ensure another 9/11 attack would never happen here again.
Over the last twenty-four hours, I have been stunned by the joy exhibited on the Left by Kirk’s assassination. From MSNBC’s Matthew Dowd and Katy Tur to the idiot bearded moron in Utah cheering immediately after Kirk went down, from the sick woman dancing in her video to Kirk’s death (word is she is an illegal immigrant so, Tom Homan, go get her please) to the cheers that erupted at TMZ on word of his death, from the teachers and politicians making ghastly remarks about Kirk to the countless X posts celebrating his demise, the Left today is very much like the Muslim Street after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Both groups felt joy at innocent death. Sorry, but it is true.
For four years we were told that the greatest threat to America was white nationalism-supremacy, with little actual evidence of such violence (sorry, left-leaning readers, but January 6, 2021, had nothing to do with white nationalism). Those statements were made in the face of years of left-wing violence by Antifa and other left-wing groups dating back to January 2017 when Donald Trump was inaugurated. They attacked the White House complex injuring Secret Service agents and other law enforcement personnel. They attacked courthouses across the country. They took over parts of cities. They rioted and burned down neighborhoods. They made Molotov cocktails, killed people, and injured over 1,000 law enforcement personnel. They tried to assassinate a U.S. Supreme Court justice; Republican members of Congress; Trump at least twice, with the first attempt failing by the slightest turn of Trump’s head; and now Kirk (if only Kirk would have bent forward by three inches at the right time). When the Left’s leaders constantly call those of us on the Right Nazis and Hitlers and at times expressly call for violence, we shouldn’t be surprised that their adherents pick up a weapon to try to stop these modern day Hitler threats from growing.
How do these two events relate to Zarutska’s murder in Charlotte? Those events relate via irony. Specifically, the same sick people on the Left who believe Kirk’s assassination was justified by how he exercised his 1st Amendment right to free speech will protest the application of the death penalty to Brown, Jr., for murdering Zarutska in cold blood. Kirk: his speech earned him a death sentence we should celebrate. Brown, Jr.: his heinous actions weren’t enough to earn him a death sentence so we should protest. A large swath of the Left is deeply disturbed mentally and emotionally. We see this sickness when trans shooters kill innocent kids at schools and churches, but, more shockingly, we see it more broadly amongst the Left when they feel joy at innocent death of public figures and outrage at righteous justice being applied to murderers.
I saw this joy up close and personal last July 13, 2024, when my lovely lady friend and I were having dinner in Asheville, North Carolina. When word of the assassination attempt on Trump reached the restaurant where we were eating, a couple with their adult children next to us started laughing at the news. When I made eye contact with the dad, showing my utter contempt for his reaction, they quickly paid their bill and left. Another table near both of our tables commented to us about that family’s conduct. It disgusted me. I suspect that family cheered at the news of Kirk’s assassination. Sickos.
Look, I think very little of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer. I think they are reprehensible people who have done great harm to America. I would never take joy at someone killing them, as Kirk was killed. I may not mourn them, but I certainly wouldn’t celebrate as the Left has been celebrating Kirk’s death even though their slurring of Trump and his voters as Nazis and Hitlers put targets on their backs. Back to the 9/11 terrorist attack. When word got out that America finally had killed Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011, after nearly ten years of looking for him, I cheered and cried tears of joy. The fact that the Left got similar joy and relief by Kirk’s death speaks volumes about the depth of illness and evil in them. Kirk was no bin Laden.
P.S. For those interested, listen to my interview from today on the Bruce Hooley Show when I talked about these events.

I am so sad and angry at what has happened in our once-great country. The open comments celebrating Charlie Kirk's death, or at best, not knowing who he was and not caring he was assassinated. It's another watershed moment like the day very public political leader Hilary Clinton openly labeled half the country a 'basket of deplorables.' It could never be un-said. The country would never be the same.
